Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Treated with Epidural Blood Patch: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a condition caused by spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage, resulting in orthostatic headache as the main symptom, but other symptoms such memory loss, nausea, and tinnitus may also be present. Various imaging techniques are used to diagnose SIH, with magnetic resonance myelography being an important tool for detecting leakage site of CSF. Conservative treatments including hydration, bed rest, intravenous caffeine have been tried limited success. Epidural blood patch (EBP) most commonly performed treatment SIH after failure conservative management. There different opinions about EBP procedure (e.g., blind vs. targeted EBP). This report describes according diagnosis initial lumbar EBP.

Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Treated with a Targeted CT-Guided Epidural Blood Patch
Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is an important cause of new daily persistent headache. It is thought to be due to spontaneous spinal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, which probably have a multifactorial etiology. The classic manifestation of SIH is an orthostatic headache, but other neurological symptoms may be present. An epidural blood patch is thought to be the most effective tre...
متن کاملSpontaneous intracranial hypotension with cerebrospinal fluid leakage at 2 sites treated by epidural blood patch.
PURPOSE Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a relatively uncommon cause of headache, which usually presents as orthostatic cranial pain and is relieved by recumbency. The precise cause of spontaneous spinal cerebrospinal fluid leakage related SIH remains unknown. CASE REPORT We report the case of a 32-year-old man who presented with an orthostatic headache. Brain magnetic resonance ...
متن کاملdifferent mri signs in predicting the treatment efficacy of epidural blood patch in spontaneous intracranial hypotension: a case report
abstract the current mainstay of treatment in spontaneous intracranial hypotension (sih) is an epidural blood patch (ebp). although magnetic resonance imaging (mri) has a well-established role in the diagnosis of sih, imaging features regarding the treatment efficacy of ebp have rarely been discussed. we therefore sought to investigate and compare the sequential brain mri studies before and aft...
متن کاملChronic subdural hematoma after spontaneous intracranial hypotension : a case treated with epidural blood patch on c1-2.
Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is a recognized cause of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). Subdural hematoma (SDH) is a serious but rare complication of SIH. An autologous epidural blood patch at the CSF-leak site can effectively relieve SIH. We report a case of bilateral SDH with SIH caused by a CSF leak originating at the C1-2 level. A 55-year-old male complained of ortho...
متن کاملEpidural blood patch for spontaneous intracranial hypotension with chronic subdural haematoma: A case report and literature review
Spinal leakage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is considered to be the primary cause of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). Subdural haematoma (SDH) is a serious complication of SIH. This current report presents a case of bilateral SDH with SIH that was treated with epidural blood patching (EBP). A 43-year-old male complained of experiencing orthostatic headaches for 2 months without neuro...
